It’s that time of year again when we like to update you all about what Stroud Hospitals League of Friends has done throughout the year.
As you know, Stroud Hospitals League of Friends purchase a wide range of advanced, state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment and this year we have purchased items such as X-ray machines, specialist chairs as well as bike racks and benches.
At the start of the year Stroud Hospitals League of Friends contributed £519,000 to the refurbishment of the MIIU and Jubilee ward. Both are now fully open and look fantastic, giving many more years of service to the community.
Stroud Hospitals League of Friends has also decided to fund Hope for Tomorrow which is an incredible charity providing weekly chemotherapy and other cancer treatments from a mobile unit parked at Stroud Hospital for another three years.
As a result of the ongoing spending our reserves are lowering significantly and to be able to continue doing something meaningful with donations received we really need help and support from the local community.
At our AGM held in September which was well attended at the Subscription Rooms we saw the retirement of Dr Gordon Horner after 43 years of service to the League of Friends and he will be missed by us all. Also at the AGM we welcomed four new Trustees to the Board, Margaret Greaves, Emily Booth, Miriam Street and Barry Chapman who will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team.
