Popular volunteer, Janet Smith, stepped down from her role as Refreshment Shop Manager this week. She has been a volunteer for many years and has spent over 10 years as the Refreshment Shop Manager at Stroud General Hospital, ordering stock and making sure that the shop and trolley service is ‘staffed’ with volunteers throughout the week.
Janet was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the shop treasurer, Derrick Payne, on behalf of Stroud Hospitals League of Friends and was also very touched by the cards and vouchers from other volunteers.
She has been a real stalwart behind this service and has given a great deal of time, energy, commitment and hard work into ensuring that the Refreshment Shop and trolley service runs efficiently and is very much appreciated by staff, patients and visitors. All the volunteers who ‘work’ at the shop provide support and a welcoming face as well as the refreshments, food and small gifts that can be purchased there. Janet will carry on as a volunteer at the shop for one morning a month so will still be part of the Refreshment Shop and Stroud General Hospital.
