In the early days of the COVID pandemic, Stroud Hospitals League of Friends gave significant practical support to both the General and Maternity Hospitals, through the immediate allocation of funds. Towards the end of 2020, the League also funded local health-focused charities in recognition of the vital services they were providing. This was much valued during a very difficult period.

Fortunately, the League can continue its usual activities and recently has contributed £400,000 to the local NHS Trust towards a major refurbishment of the Minor Injuries and Illness Unit and Jubilee Ward at Stroud Hospital – to go ahead from August this year.

The League has also resumed free Respite Care at Horsfall House, Minchinhampton, which is open those registered with local GP practices. More information is available on the website.

In addition to supporting existing and new services at Stroud General and Stroud Maternity Hospitals, and related NHS provision in the Stroud area, the League proposes for a second year running to give grants to local community-based health and well-being services provided by registered charities or equivalent.

Applications can be submitted between September 1st and October 31st. Grants will be awarded to successful applicants before the end of the year. For full details and an application form please email
