The care of the hospital gardens has resumed by our dedicated Garden Group co-ordinator, Linda Phillips. Only two of the gardening group attend at a time, suitably socially distanced, and they have started the task of working their way through three months of lockdown weeding. Linda has persuaded B&Q to make donations on a regular basis and they have given plants and compost which the group are putting to good use in the borders, raised beds and the 22 pots and troughs on the main site. Many plants suffered from not being watered during lockdown so they will be replaced very soon using the B&Q compost which has also been used for making new hanging baskets for the Patients Garden. Linda will also be resuming the popular sale of flowers donated by M&S. Her efforts have raised £2,500 since November 2018 in addition to the gardening work which makes the hospital grounds attractive for patients, staff and visitors.
