Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust is currently seeking public views on revised opening hours for Minor Injuries and Illness Units (MIIUs) in the 7 community hospitals in Gloucestershire, including Stroud General Hospital.
This public engagement process began on July 13, 2016 and will run until August 31, 2016. YOUR VIEWS MATTER and will influence the decision made by Gloucestershire Care Services. Stroud Hospitals League of Friends would ask everyone to respond.
There are a number of ways of doing this:-
– Using the prepaid card in the consultation booklet, distributed in many health premises around the district, including Stroud General Hospital
– By visiting www.glos-care.nhs.uk
– Email: miiureview@glos-care.nhs.uk
– Telephone 0300 421 8100
– By visiting the Information Bus at 11 King Street on August 22nd between 10.00 – 11.30
At present Stroud General and Cirencester Hospital open for 24 hours each day, although there has been times when due to staffing shortages one of these units has been closed at night.
You will be asked to choose from 3 options:
Option 1. To change the opening hours of all 7 Gloucestershire MIIUs to 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Option 2. To change the opening hours of the MIIUs in Cirencester and Stroud to 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Option 3. To change the opening hours of the MIIUs in Cirencester and Stroud to 8 a.m. – 11 p.m., and also the opening hours of either Lydney or the Dilke to 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
There is not an option in the consultation to keep any of the units open through the night. Therefore Stroud League of Friends would recommend Option 2 which keeps Stroud General MIIU open from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. Ideally we would like to continue opening for 24 hours but if this is unacceptable then at least until 12 midnight.
